Because Mrs. Shakespeare the elder was a constant presence in the first Anne Hathaway's Cottage, we thought she should have a room here. Antique Pennsylvania Dutch painted pine furniture makes this our premiere room. Built in the 1850s, each piece is painted with soft roses and greens on an ivory background, a pleasing palette for our most discriminating guests. Currier and Ives prints oversee the queen bed, while the side wall has wonderful prints by a current Pennsylvania artist. The private bathroom features a huge clawfoot tub with shower for soaking or dreaming.
