Named for the Shakespeares' firstborn, this room sits on the northeast corner of the house with spectacular views of the mountains that surround us, sunrises and pink evening skies. Tastefully appointed with a four poster mahogany queen bed with matching dresser and side tables, this is a favorite for honeymooners and those celebrating anniversaries. Freshly painted in a soft green, the room and linens have a soothing aura to them. The private adjoining bath features a two-person shower. Judith's Room
Named for one of the Shakespeare twins, Judith's room has mountain views and dappled light all day, making it a warm and cozy place to be. Antique queen bed and vanity take you back to a bygone era. Decorated with whimsical fabric, and art posters, there are also lamps designed for reading in bed. A claw foot tub with shower provides an option for soak or shower. Hamnet's Room
The other twin was Hamnet and his room has recently been transformed with pale yellow paint and a bold, bright quilt of complementary colors. A four-poster dominates the room, which has its own adjoining bath. Mother Mary's Room
Because Mrs. Shakespeare the elder was a constant presence in the first Anne Hathaway's Cottage, we thought she should have a room here. Antique Pennsylvania Dutch painted pine furniture makes this our premiere room. Built in the 1850s, each piece is painted with soft roses and greens on an ivory background, a pleasing palette for our most discriminating guests. Currier and Ives prints oversee the queen bed, while the side wall has wonderful prints by a current Pennsylvania artist. The private bathroom features a huge clawfoot tub with shower for soaking or dreaming. Will's Study
A smallish room downstairs, Will's Study has a single bed. A period desk with chair and comfy easy chair make it a perfect place for reading, writing or resting. This room has become very popular among single travelers and children of other guests. A private bath adjoins the room. John's Room
Named for Shakespeare’s father, who was a frequent visitor to the Hathaway-Shakespeare home, this newly-remodeled bedroom, which can be a king or twins, features period wallpaper and wainscoting in a soft green, superb antique furniture, plus a new-age tiled bathroom with Jacuzzi. Bright and sunny, it opens on to an interesting garden bordered in boxwood. This is a very private place where guests can relax after a busy day of plays and enjoying the manifold offerings of the Rogue Valley. Richard's Room
This wonderful cream-colored room with period wallpaper and wainscoting is named for the most famous actor of his time at the Globe Theatre, Richard Burbage, another frequent visitor to the Shakespeare home. With its own private entrance off the rear garden, this bedroom, which can be a king or twins, is filled with light and period pieces that evoke cozy comfort. A step-in shower in the tiled bath makes it accessible for those training new knees or tolerating old joints. A queen sofa bed makes it possible to add a third member to your party. |
